Tree Theatrics

We've been out and about today and, despite the fact that we are now midway into November and, despite the fact that so many leaves are now enjoying life on the ground, many trees continue to display some of the finest hues of the season. And I must say, when we were out and about two nights ago, in a rain that had been falling steadily all day, the trees, even then, were just stunning underneath the streetlights.
This afternoon, while we were going here and there, I started a new project. I'm knitting a pair of cabled fingerless mitts using a coffee brown tweed in a worsted weight. The yarn, which I picked up while in Florida recently, is speckled with little dots of red, green, yellow, etc.
Now to jump into bed and get my toes all toasty warm.
Nighty night.

Sleeping Beauty.

A much nicer day we've had. And a really big surprise that I'll let you in on soon. For now, It's time for some beauty sleep.

Under the Weather Report

It has steadily rained all day and evening, and the wind has been monstrous at times. Sunshine would be nice tomorrow. I am feeling a bit poorly, and we all are very tired. So I will just say nighty night.

Day of Wine and Roses

Today's selection for "Windows into Wednesdays" is the striking view from the tasting room at a marvelous vineyard which we are able to enjoy from time to time. On an adjacent wall are two huge picture windows offering panoramic views of the lovely hillside.

Our time spent in this beautiful countryside was just as pleasant as it comes. It was cool, but not too cool. Just enough to require a sweater, sweatshirt, or light jacket. And not a drop of rain. The leaves were a bit past their peak but, nonetheless, stunning. The grapevines were magnificent, and there were even beautiful red roses blooming.
There were many others there with the same keen enjoyment we felt. We had experienced the "tasting" on a previous visit so instead opted for a few glasses each of a wine that had not been available last time. We chose a little tiled table at the far end of the veranda and sat down for an impromptu picnic which Squidley had packed the night before: homemade olive and cream cheese and egg salad sandwiches. There were lots of goodies for snacking as well. And I have to say that having a meal outdoors rates right up there with restaurants receiving a five star review. It doesn't matter whether it's simple sandwiches or fried chicken. Potato salad or tossed salad. Cookies and cake or store bought candy. Sometimes, though, Squidley gets rather inventive and somewhat elaborate when prepping things for the picnic basket. And of course, I will never ever object to that.
Hoping that everyone remembered our veterans today.

Outing Touting

The above are photographs I shot during our little venture into wine and horse country this past weekend. I greatly enjoyed this outing with Squidley and Deutsch and Scout, as partly evidenced by the number of pictures I've posted. Trust me, this is but a mere sampling of all I shot that day. And as if I haven't bored you enough, tomorrow I will post additional pictures taken the same day, including some from one of our favorite vineyards we visited.
Nighty night, all.
