Pool Party

Deutsch and Scout are brave little boys. They may not be terribly wild about getting into the bathtub, but I think even they enjoy smelling nice and looking all shiny when all is said and done.

Me Sleepy? No Way. (Wink, Wink, Wink.)

I don't think it likely I could get this shot again any time soon. True, when Scout begins getting sleepy, his left eye closes somewhat. Capturing that with the camera, however, was an absolutely wonderful surprise.

Our two little boys are often at a standoff, and attempting to prove dominance is usually the reason. At the end of the day, however, they are best buddies (as well as brothers).

So sweet.

I wanted to post a photograph of this fabric yesterday; however, once I loaded my pictures on the laptop, I realized this fabric's photo was blurred. I reshot today, and the result is a peek at the fabric I will use for the picnic quilt's border. I may also use it for the binding but haven't decided for sure.

The only progress I made on the quilt today was cutting the border strips. I can't do anything else until I purchase the trim because its application is the next step in this project.

Today has been very good. I'm feeling better, and my voice is slowly but surely getting back to normal. Squidley treated me to lunch, and a friend of his from work came along, too. It was a nice outing, and we had lots of good conversation. Tonight we went to a movie and ate lots of buttered popcorn. Good movie, good popcorn, and wonderful company.

Mount Deutschmore (and Scout, too)

This is the backing fabric for the picnic quilt. It is part of the American Jane "Happy Camper" series, and I think it looks quite "picnicky."

I thought I'd post another picture of the quilt top, photographed from a different angle.

There should be a mountain carving of these two.

So, today has been quite nice, and I'm even enjoying the return of cooler temps. And it was back to sweats and a thermal top, one of my cold weather uniforms.

I'm keeping tonight's post short because I'm tired and want to get into bed very soon. Squidley and the boys have beat me to the punch, so I have some z's to catch up on.

Seven Squared is Forty-nine

This afternoon I worked briefly on the picnic quilt. The above photograph is the latest look, after being ironed.

First, I needed to open the seams in each strip.

Pressing those newly opened seams was next. Lastly, I stitched the seven patchwork rows together to form the quilt top.

I also pressed the fabric that will be used for the border, a very pretty blue mini-print. I cannot add that to the quilt top sides until I have added a touch of trim, a purchase I have not yet made.

The day has been pleasant, and the temperature high was in the fifties. We have learned, however, that cold weather is on its way back soon. That's ok. And more snow would be ok, too. Squidley just loves snow. And Scout is wild about it, too!

And, on the subject of Squidley, I have to give five stars to his homemade Italian wedding soup he served tonight. Wonderful! He usually adds orzo to it but tonight added a different pasta. I think this one is even better.

Mex Meal

At the risk of sounding like a broken record (or cd), I have just not felt like doing much since I started feeling poorly. And I have had either no voice or very little. Today I did laundry and some cleaning. Squidley made sure I did not do "too much." But it feels good to be back in the game, even though I'm just starting out. Sewing is something I've very much missed, and I look forward to getting back to the picnic quilt I started a few weeks ago. And I have some good ideas for things I want to do around our home. And, I'm starting my Spring cleaning this month. Actually, I kinda like doing that usually twice a year.

Just a little mention on the soft tacos Squidley made for dinner tonight. Delicious. Especially with the homemade pico.

Well, it is beddy bye time for us. Nighty night, all.

Quite the Quilt

Rain, rain, rain. What a good day for wrapping an incredibly soft quilt around one's shoulders.

Vamoose, Snow!

Well, it's been a much milder day than we've had for a while, and that has been a bit of a lift for me. Still, there are still small hills of dirty snow in mini-mall parking lots throughout our area. And up until two days ago, there was still a light, white covering behind our house, as well as on the far edge of the road. My mom recently reminded me that snow that stays around for three days is simply waiting around for more. And when about an inch and a half to two inches fell recently, it did so while there was still plenty of the white stuff remaining from the snowfall the week before Christmas.

Though I think I am nearly over the illness that has had a firm hold on me, I am still dealing with laryngitis. It worsens if I've talked much at all. So I'm trying to keep mum on everything.
