Oh, Baby, Baby, it's a White World.

Can you say "patio bagel?"

This shot is one of my favorites.

I shot this photograph while lying on my front side, just inside our breakfast nook.

It's as though our house doesn't have any front steps.

This picture reminds me of Marge Simpson.

'nuff said.

This snow seemingly tailored itself to fit any surface.

By now my camera lens was pretty wet.

This is also one of my favorite photographs taken today. The dish sits on one of the patio
railings.
So, it seems that dreams really do come true. And I not only dreamed in white last night; today I looked at the world through white colored glasses.
I wanted to go for a walk this afternoon, but this powdery, very deep snow did not permit. Perhaps tomorrow I can get around a bit to see and photograph other nearby.
I am very tired and am going to get into bed so that I can rise for an early morning photography opportunity.
Hope everyone is safe, warm and happy.
Nighty night, all.

Dreaming in White

Squidley and I have had a nice day. We picked up some groceries for the weekend, including things we like having on hand when it snows. (It's supposed to start sometime during the morning.) And one or both of us have played with Deutsch and Scout throughout the day, except for a brief outing to see the latest Hugh Grant movie, "Have You Heard About the Morgans" and quick stops at a dress shop and Target.

When we got home, I started a bit of laundry while Squidley cooked chicken on the grill and made chicken sandwiches with lettuce and tomato. Yummy. And we watched a Jennifer Aniston movie on tv while we all just plain relaxed.

Now it is beddy bye time for us. Sweet dreams to everyone. I may just be sweetly dreaming of snow. And when I awake, I likely will find that that sweet dream came true.

Mitt Fit

Scout is doing much better today. Throughout the day, his "coughing" or "clearing his throat" sounds became less frequent, and by bedtime, were non-existent. I still kept him from being very active, just as the vet had advised.
Deutsch has stayed close to Scout for most of the day. I think he was doing what he could to assist in caring for his brother.
On another subject, snow is forecast for our area this weekend. I won't be wearing the fingerless mitts I've been working on because I only just finished one of them. I started over on that one probably four or five times befor I decided exactly how I would knit it. I was concerned the mitts would be too loose for my hands and had cast on fewer stitches than called for in the pattern. For several reasons it just did not look right. Ultimately, I cast on the number of stitches as required by the pattern. To keep each mitt from being too loose at the beginning, I cast on as tightly as I could.
Well, I am very tired and am going to get into the beddy bye.
Nighty night.

Good Gravy!

Squidley took Scout to the vet's very early this morning. As it turned out, he had rather a long wait since the teeth cleaning procedure didn't occur until around 1:30. Squidley was so sweet and picked up Deutsch and me on his way back to the vet's office later in the day. Scout wasn't ready for release upon our arrival, but Deutsch seemed ok with the wait. I think the various scents were his primary entertainment while we were there. Oh, and there were two fake bunnies, a small one and a larger one, on a shelf. When we pointed them out to Deutsch, he became very excited. This is because during their very first summer, while we were gardening, I taught both Deutsch and Scout to chase bunnies. That wasn't a particularly difficult task since dachshunds were designed by God to be natural hunters. I just sorta helped introduce them to what comes naturally to them.
Well, Scout was a little trooper. First, he was evidently quite excited to see us when he was brought into the waiting room. Deutsch was estatic to lay eyes on his big brother. For some reason, though, Deutsch began making odd growling sounds, directed at Scout. And the hair on his back was raised to new heights. Our only guess regarding this reaction was that perhaps Scout smelled funny to Deutsch.
Tonight Scout has snoozed off and on. He is still noticeably groggy. He ate all of his dinner, and that made us enormously happy. Squidley had put "gravy" on it (hot water from the sink sprayer). Both boys are sleeping with us. This makes it much easier to keep tabs on Scout. He has already awakened several times, making little sounds that made it seem like he was either clearing his throat or coughing. That was due to the tube, through which the anesthetic was administered, that was inserted down his throat.
So, tomorrow we must keep Scout from being active. Keeping Deutsch in tow will be an additional challenge. He wants Scout playing with him as usual.
Everyone take very good care.
Nighty night.

All Right, Which One of You is Dopey?

Today I am trying to accomplish extra tasks because I likely won't get much done tomorrow. In the morning, Squidley will take Scout to the vet's to have his teeth cleaned. Since the procedure calls for the patient to be anesthetized, this will be an all day affair. And I can tell you right now that Deutsch will be restless for much of the day, wondering where his brother is. So Deutschy will be my priority at home, and when Scoutus returns, they will both need much attention, only in different ways. Scout will still be somewhat drugged, and Deutsch will be running around trying to play with Scout.
So, I guess I better get some rest, eh?
A pleasant evening to all.

R and R

This is a take it easy kind of day. Adventures are fun, but they can sometimes wear you out!
Nighty night, everyone.

Egg Salad, Olive, and Ham, Oh My!

Squidley and Deutsch and Scout and I had a little adventure today and had immense fun. I didn't take pictures of our lunch, but it was just perfect for our little outing. Squidley made two kinds of sandwiches: egg salad and olive cream cheese. He made chicken salad with craisins and walnuts to be spread on thin crackers. And as if all that wasn't enough, he also included ham biscuits, made with a recently baked spiral cut ham and biscuits freshly baked this morning. And there were chips and some chocolate squares. And of course, gingerale drinks in the ice chest.

Wishing everyone good adventures.
